The apparent reconciliation between Smartmatic International Inc. and Total Information Management (TIM) seems to be paving the way for the 2010 national elections to be automated. The signing of the contract will pave way for the country’s first fully automated elections in 2010. House Speaker Prospero Nograles and Quezon Representative Danilo Suarez, Chairman of the Oversight Committee lauded Comelec Chairman Jose Melo for reamining steadfast in his commitment to fully automate the 2010 national elections. They likewise appealed to the political leaders to make Comelec’s preparations for the May 2010 automated elections free of intrigues, to let the poll body do its job of ensuring a clean and honest election and to leave the winning bidders in the poll automation project alone.
