Will Ed look for a first lady?

Pampanga Governor Eddie Panlilio formally offered himself as a presidential candidate in the 2010 national elections. It was during a lunch held at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani (Monument of Heroes) in Quezon City when Ed announced his desire to serve the country as president. He was backed by the newly organized group, Kilos Na! More or less seventy (70) people who attended the said activity came from the Movement for a Better Philippines, a new youth group, and a Filipino-American who promised to mobilize Filipinos in the United States to raise funds for Panlilio. Panlilio was a priest for 29 years before he run and won the gubernatorial race in 2007.  He is on leave from his priestly duties while serving out his term as a governor, but said he would leave the priesthood if he runs for president. Lawyer Ma. Gracia Rinoza-Plazo asked Panlilio if he is going to look for a first lady since he will be leaving the priesthood when he runs, but of course Panlilio said, “no”. Panlilio said that his decision to formally file a certificate of candidacy in November would still depend on how ready the people are to support him.

LOADIn reaction to the uproar over “disappearing loads” caused by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) announced on Tuesday that starting on July 19, the shelf life of cellular phone credits will be “tripled”. Prepaid load of P10 or less will be extended to three (3) days and the load of more than P300 will be stretched to four (4) months. NTC likewise announced that effective July 23, unsolicited or promotional text messages would be prohibited.

The expiry of mobile phone credits of P10 to P50 will be extended from two days to five days to fifteen days; more than P50 to P100, 30 days; more than P100 to P250, 60 days; more than P250 to P300, 75 days. Sen. Mar Roxas who presided over the hearings on desappearing cell phone loads  said that, “With this, our money will no longer disappear as if they just evaporated or expired. This is a good output of the hearings.”

On the issue of unsolicited or promotional text messages, Commisioner Ruel Canobas of the NTC said that subscribers would no longer be bombarded with messages unless they subscribe to these promotional texts first. However, Canobas said that those who were already subscribed should honor their subscription until it ends.
